Premium Flower | Blueberry
Blueberry is a classic indica-dominant hybrid with mysterious genetics, believed to be a cross between Purple Thai and Afghani, though its exact lineage remains unconfirmed. This legendary strain dates back to the 1970s, when renowned American breeder DJ Short began experimenting with landrace varieties, ultimately creating what would become one of the most iconic and flavorful strains on the market. Blueberry gained widespread acclaim after winning Best Indica at the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup, celebrated for both its potent effects and its unmistakable flavor profile—a rich blend of sweet blueberries and creamy vanilla. The high from Blueberry begins with a gentle, creeping euphoria that settles into a deep sense of calm and relaxation. As it develops, users often experience a hazy, introspective mindset that quiets racing thoughts and soothes mental tension. These calming effects make Blueberry a popular choice for those seeking relief from chronic fatigue, depression, migraines, stress, or anxiety. Visually, Blueberry features dense, grape-shaped buds in olive green hues, accented by bright blue undertones, vivid orange hairs, and a generous dusting of amber-colored trichomes. Its aroma mirrors its flavor, with sweet and spicy notes of earthy vanilla layered with subtle floral undertones.
More about this strain: Blueberry
Blueberry, commonly known as DJ Short Blueberry, is an Indica-leaning hybrid strain created by legendary breeder DJ Short. The strain was bred by crossing a male landrace, only one generation removed from Afghanistan, with two females — Highland Thai (aka ) and — which he claims produced virtually identical results.
Blueberry reportedly grows medium-to-tall in a 49-56 day flowering period, producing THC levels that range between 16% to 24%. Best grown indoors, especially using the Sea of Green method, the strain tends to produce above-average yields of dense, sticky, purple-hued buds. When cured properly, this strain reportedly gives off an aroma and taste that resemble fresh blueberries.
Though DJ Short was the initial breeder of Blueberry, other seed banks have also experimented with this strain with great success. For instance, a Blueberry strain produced by the Noon won Best Indica and best strain overall in the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup, while another Blueberry strain from Dutch Passion Seed Co. won third place in the Indica Cup at the 2002 High Times Cannabis Cup.
